Wagner’s forthcoming book Cowboy Apocalypse: Religion, Media, Guns explores the horror of our nation’s gun worship. Poole’s Dark Carnivals: Modern Horror and the Origins of American Empire links post- WWII horror films and the violence of our military and cultural empire-building.
