Student Worker Role

 We're hiring! Applications are open for a Graduate Assistant Position beginning in Fall 2026

The Institute for Religion, Culture and Public Life is seeking a Columbia University graduate student to assist with communications and outreach work for IRCPL's public programs. The Graduate Assistant will be a key member of IRCPL's team whose work will support our digital media and in-person events coordination. If you are a Columbia graduate student in GSAS interested in IRCPL's work, we'd like to hear from you!

The Graduate Assistant will become part of IRCPL’s learning community, and we provide mentorship and professional development opportunities in line with the student's goals and the Institute's priorities.  

About the Role:

  • The estimated commitment is 5-8 hours per week on average. Please note that IRCPL understands that studies come first and will maintain flexibility around scheduling.  

  • Student workers earn hourly wages in line with wage classes set by Columbia University, and must submit timesheets to receive payments. The anticipated pay rate is $25/hour.

Position Requirements:

The assistant must be registered as a graduate student at Columbia University and eligible for on-campus employment. Priority will be given to applicants with prior experience in digital communications and/or event experience, website maintenance and newsletter distribution, social media management, copyediting, basic video editing, and other relevant skills. Strong applications will also demonstrate interest in IRCPL’s priority areas of religion, culture, and public life.
